There is another thread going on at the moment with a guy having very similar problems with his Mondeo. With his the problem is the rear passenger side door and also front passenger side window. He has removed the PDM and found it badly corroded inside.

Both of us have had this problem this winter, temp falls below zero, key fob allows door to unlock, and the handle action opens the lock, but it is too frozen to close. Release the buttons. Lock the car using the remote. Press UNLOCK button once. Drivers door should unlock, leaving rest of the doors and the trunk locked. Second press will unlock rest of the doors and the trunk. Repeat the procedure to disable this feature. This procedure is proved work in other Ford cars. mTlL8gY.
